If you stop and think for a few moments it wouldn’t take you long to think of a long list of roles and jobs that need to be carried out to keep Combe going. What might surprise you is that list is longer than 170 different discrete roles and many people have way more than one job. We are not a big corporation, we rely on the dedication of unpaid volunteers to keep moving the club forward.
To ensure we have a continuing legacy at Combe we are currently detailing all the roles; who does them, who deputises, how long have they been doing the job, succession plans etc. and it has highlighted that there a number of “holes”.
The hope is that these “holes” exist because people aren’t aware that there is a need or they want to help but don’t know how to. So we are going to start the publicise the areas where we need help. If any of the following roles are of interest then please do contact us and we can discuss in more detail. Alternatively, if you would like to help but don’t know how then also please contact us. All of these roles require a passion for the game but no-one needs to have playing experience. All the roles are full supported by a tight knit management team who are intent on helping every volunteer succeed ! All roles will have a defined job description (when we find a volunteer to write them!)
Head of Mini Rugby – someone to join the Youth Management Team and help organise the littlest of our members as they start their rugby journey.
First Aid Co-ordinator – someone to manage the large numbers of qualified First Aider’s we have so that we are more self sufficient and less reliant on outside help. Starting with the youth set up but ultimately covering first aid needs across.
Health & Safety co-ordinator – rules and regulations are tightening in this area all the time and we need to constantly ensure that we are compliant. This is a focus area with the RFU who will provide copious support & guidance.
Marketing team member – we have made great strides in making more use of the facilities that we have and are starting to “monetise the assets we have” but there is still capacity to do more. Aside from the “grassy bits” we have a great facility that could be put to more use during the weekdays especially, which will generate much needed additional club funds. We need additional member(s) to join the team to help bring fresh ideas, contacts, energy.
There are many other areas where we need help so we are ready to be overwhelmed by the weight of volunteers !
Please don’t be shy about offering to help in any way you can. Just get in contact via volunteer@westcombeparkrugby.co.uk
Thanks
The Volunteer Co-ordinating Team
